Features for professional use!

Thanks to intelligent filters, the use of comprehensive groupings and
employment of powerful tools, you can analyze your web site at a depth
far greater than you have ever thought possible...

  Excluding Page and Visitor Filters

By defining page and visitor filters, you can specifically exclude individual
pages and/or visitors from analysis
. Setting up filters is easy and un-
complicated with the help of wildcards ("/maintenance/*.html", "*.ibm.de")
and can be done right in the analysis window via a context menu.

  • Exclude your own accesses (e.g., for maintenance) to your own web site.
  • Frames will no longer skew the analysis.
  • Exclude specific, irrelevant pages (for example, "robots.txt").

  Including Page and Visitor Filters

Use the including filters to monitor the behavior of individual visitors
or groups of visitors
. Or use them to find out which persons have clicked
through to specific pages:

  • Which pages did a specific customer / competitor / employee view and when?
  • What is the average duration of a visit by visitors from universities?
  • From which online service are users more likely to click through to
the page? AOL, CompuServe or T-Online?

  Page Comments

Page comments finally enable you to add your own contextual and logical view
regardless of the way in which the web site was programmed. For example, if
a HTML file is named "jznw4512.htm", in WebSuxess you can assign an
arbitrary page comment to this page (for example, "Jazz - News").

Moreover, you are also able to analyze groups of any number of files (or even
entire directories). The pages "product_a_pic.html", "product_a_price.html",
and "product_a_order.html", for example, would then appear as "Product A".

  • Select and assign comments to individual files
  • Group several pages together to form logical groups
  • Page comments can be imported directly from a text file (CSV format)

  Error Filters

Error filters exclude those hits from analysis which returned a certain HTTP
status code. You can, for example, easily detect all hits to deleted pages
which are no longer available after a web site relaunch. The inverse error
filter allows you to focus on hits returning specific HTTP status codes.

  • Which pages do visitors try to access, even though they are no
    longer available?
  • Which pages are transmitted correctly to visitors, which have
returned an error code from the server?

  Parameter Filters

The parameter filter greatly enhances analysis of dynamically created web
pages (like those using ColdFusion, NetObjects, etc.).

  • How often has your internal search function been used?
  • How often have product groups been displayed?

  Display Filter

Use the display filter to conveniently select individual areas to be displayed
without having to reparse the log file. It thus provides a fast overview of
specific search terms
. The display filter is available in all statistics.

Consider the following examples:
  • Enter *home* in the page statistics to display only those pages
including the string "home," such as/homepage.htm,
    /english/homeengl.htm, /abc_home.html, etc.

  • Enter *.edu or *edu in the Visitor statistics, grouped by companies
to display all educational Second Level Domains.

  Scheduler

The scheduler lets you automatically analyze the log files of your web server
periodically (daily, weekly, monthly). After analysis, WebSuxess generates an
interactive HTML report and saves it in a directory (local or on the FTP server)
of your choice. This makes it possible to publish the report in the Intranet
or Internet quickly and without additional effort.

Above all, the scheduler gives Internet service providers (ISPs) and companies
providing services via the Internet a powerful function capable of analyzing
customer domains automatically.

  • The time interval for the automated analysis is freely selectable.
  • It is possible to copy log files directly from an FTP server.
  • Time sensitive syntax is supported when specifying log files.
  • The HTML reports can be saved directly to the FTP server.
  • Time-sensitive syntax is likewise supported when specifying the
    destination directory for the reports.

  Assistant

While you are viewing the statistical analysis, the integral agent will
offer you tips on additional possibilities for analysis and valuable
tips on how to optimize your web site.

Examples:

  • Assistance with configurations for analyzing your own web site
  • Automatic detection if too few visitors are being referred by search engines.

  Additional Features

WebSuxess offers you a whole series of other useful features that greatly
simplify analysis of your web site:

  • DNS-Lookup (Domain Name Server Lookup)
So that you can see not only the IP numbers of the visitors in the
visitor statistics, but rather also their domains and thus their
company names, the web server should automatically convert the IP
number into the domain. Some web servers are unable to resolve the
IP address of the PC accessing the server into the domain name
(for example, Microsoft IIS3, IIS4). With many servers, server side
DNS lookup is deactivated for reasons of performance.

A DNS cache is created in the process. This way, DNS lookups for
repeated analyses based on the same log file, or on different log
files with similar visitor IDs, can be conducted in a matter of seconds

  • Analyze multiple virtual servers.
If you run multiple virtual servers on a single web server, then all log information is written to a single file (for example, Microsoft IIS3). WebSuxess can also analyze these special log files.

  • BDA Presences
If your web site is distributed across several physical servers (BDA presence), then WebSuxess can process the resulting parallel log files together.

  • Multiple Internet Addresses
Your web site may have any number of domain names at the same time.

  • Analysis of multiple log files at the same time.
WebSuxess can analyze any number of log files at the same time. For example, if your server generates a new log file for each week, WebSuxess will analyze all four log files at once, if necessary. It is even possible to analyze log files with varying formats simultaneously. This may be necessary, for example, if one changes web servers or providers.

  • Exporting statistics
All statistics can be exported to the following formats:
  • ASC format
  • CSV (for example, for importing in MS Excel or MS Access)
  • HTML format
  • Graphics in BMP format (e.g., for import in MS Word, MS PowerPoint)
  • Graphics in JPEG format (e.g., for export to the Internet)
